They thrive in the US because they are actually organized in foreign countries so the US government is just playing whack a mole with any gangsters arrested here. Also, latino countries are quite violent. I'm not sure if you're American, but hundreds of thousands of people try to flee latino countries for the US every year because of that violence. You ever read much into the India-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971? Pakistan was armed mainly by the Americans where as India purchased British and Soviet weapons and the Indian army basically raped the Pakistan army. It wasn't even particularly close even though in several of the battles Pakistan had an advantage.

The battle of Kohima and Imphal in the second world war. Basically unknown today but the British 14th army and the Indian army - mainly the Punjab regiments destroyed the Imperial Japanese 15th army and drove them back into Burma where most of them died.
