In metro you have all these big ass carnivore creatures that wanna rip your virgin ass into shreds. Nostalisis,watchmen, russian rad scorpians that were problably plagerized from fallout 3. And the fair share of bad guys, bandits, Reich, Reds.
But in 2033 the first game, Artyom is facing a enemy not mentioned above. I think you know what Im talking abour if you played the first game. The dark ones.
At first they seem like the alpha fuck your day up people. In reality there just shitty telekinetic comunicators. In evidence of there attempts of talking to people in the game. Except the one destined to fatman max them, Artyom.
What vaule is life? Is perfect a thing that exists? Those are 2 things you kinda learn from the first 2 games. 2033, you see the dark ones as trying to kill humans. Help the beasts. But they only really attack you when you are right about to kill them. Not at the begining. Not even before Artyom makes his journey into a area that still seems more safe then new york despite all going on in the metro. They even try to talk to you and theres a good chance its some of them trying to kill you, not all.
Then came last light. You are tasked with killing the last of the dark ones. And you go through a big ass round trip through Moscow. But Kahn, as Artyoms personal Virgil gives him a different direction. He warns Artyom of the choices he is making are not the best in 2033. Right before Artyom unites with the little dark one, the lore that the dark one was being treated as a freack show animal. Abused. Mistreated. Basicly like Appa from avatar when he was being mistreated by degenerares.(Appas missing days)
But after that stuff and you meet the little one, well you kinda get this half and half flashback of when Artyom was a kid and then when he is grown and the little dark on is with him. And well to no ones suprise, the little darck one has the mindset of a kid. And as the player it is up to you to set a example for the kid. To be a role model. And to do that you could kill like any other soldeir. Or you could spare. And teach the little one some morrals. Morrals thatll circle back to Artyom at the very ending. From Letsnisky at the hands of your mercy, Pavel at the hands of your mercy, and that one monster version of a single mom at the hands over your mercy right before the polis meeting.(2nd polis meeting). And depending on if you were a good moral person or not is weather the dark ones come to save your ass like they did to Artyom when he was a kid from watchmen.
Then came exodus. The game that abandoned Moscow to decided to take a locomotive road trip all over Eurasia. From Volga river, to the drained up Caspian sea, to were ever the fuck the taiga forest was at to Novosirbirst wich is actually Russias 2nd largest city from what I recall. 3-4 of the core areas if you kill the wrong people, you will loose lives of crew members. Lives whos blood you need at the end to survive. And it seems to dark ones made home with them spying on you revealed to me by some youtube videos. And you gotta evade these creatures called the blind ones. Not gonna lie Artyom has to have been fucking spooked when evading the blind ones. All alone in a big ass abandonned city. Being hunted by creatures that are not like the Libarians despite most people thinking of then as the same. Wile his love is drying. Wile being overdosed on radiation. In weather as cold as the 9th circle of hell (in dantes inferno). And well. Despite the ending of the first game not being cannon. All 3 games.
It kinda pays off well to actually get the good ending. That was a true journey. And its not like you gotta Big Boss max with no kills. Its more so of kill only when needed. Because there is no such thing as perfect. The devs understood this.
But why did I call it the perfect moral game for athiests? 3 years ago I decided to send money to christian/catholic based medical people. One was called Lackey free clinic, a free medical clinic built by a christian. I would once in a wile give out some free money to them. The other was St Jude... A month after giving 50$ to Jude some lady from them called and asked if I wanted a free gift. Fucking St Jude T shirt. I told her no thanks I just want the money going to those in need. And then a year after that I found out St Jude was a scam. Turns out the kids getting care werent getting it for free... So what the fuck was I paying them 50$ for? A T-shirt to show off of my "supperior morrales?". And then I kinda thought about it. There are those who think being a christian or praising aulliluyah makes them hot shit morral people. That being baptized excuzes the reckless driver to ram a child cause he was in the way of his 2020 Ford F250 with a lift kit.
No it deos not. Just as religion and politics shouldnt mix. Being a christian should not be a excuse to flaunt about morrals. Im not afraid to admit as a baptist Ive done horrible things intentionally to people and animals. My dad who is a atheist is problably a more morral person then me. And the art of metro. Is being the main character deosnt make you the good guy. Killing your "enemys" because they object your cause deosnt make you a fucking good guy. It just makes you a killer. And killing or the desire to it is kinda what birthed metro in the first place. The game was based off of nuclear winter. The desire to destroy society by one president to another of a super power nation. Then again, Lucifer was the prettiest of angles before his pride created his downfall.
