No i think html 5 does the job just fine. But if you run scripts on tor it is not a good idea.

Basically it was originally created as a site/browser for FBI agents to communicate with each other (anonymously), but if you think about it: If you have about 100 agents all using a browser it won't take too long for someone to realise that all these users are agents.

Therefore they released it to the general public.
This created so much noise, that it would become impossible to work out who's an agent.

Tldr: A site created by the FBI for the FBI but they made it public so they can be more hidden, but now it's used to catch people.
