Medusa and the Gorgons was a Greek myth based upon the true nature of the Amazons, a tribe of Scythian women who bred snakes and extracted their poison. They would then hunt men with the poison, incapacitating them (turning them to stone) to steal their sperm and impregnate themselves before killing their captors. They would then sacrifice all of the male children at birth and drink their blood.
