Ive been thinking about this for a while
Why the hell do we need so many markets and stores that sell different brand of clothings, bags, jewelery etc. These stores are everywhere in the inner City being run day in and day out by workers, requiring electricity and labor that could be put to better use. Most of the people who buy stuff Come after working hours or on weekends, yet these stores are open all day long With an excessive output of brands.

It does create some jobs but to what use? Useless mass consumption of clothes that you use a few times for your narcissistic collection. Also the mass consumption is puttning a lot of pressure on the environment.

The fault really does lie within the hands of the consumers However we do get commercials shoved in our faces everywhere to buy this and that so its really a conscious decision by this frenzy society tbh

We could spend that money a lot more wisely. Promoting other endeavours that are more progressive for humans in general and put less pressure on the planet. And If people are willing to engage within a new market new Jobs will arrive naturally

It does make sense why this exist, humans troughout history have always acted as tribal and cultural people. Every human needed to be part of a group otherwise he wouldnt survive, however the current world already destroyed tribalism and culture. So what do people do? They create new 'cultures' and new ways of being part of some group.

Consumerism is a way created by elites to keep people in check by allowing them to be part of a certain consumer group which eventially become an identity for someone. We see rappers buying certain brands, hippies by certaim brands, rich people buy certain brands and so go on. Who benefits from consumerism? The elites, they wouldnt be afraid of rebellion because of tribal humane nature, instead humans found an alternative for tribalism in being a consumer slave.
