I already made a post on this in lounge but I wanna properly review it.
It's a psychological horror manga. The premise follows a 13 year old boy who lives with his mom and dad in what seems like a very by the books happy japanese family. But then he witnesses his angel of a mother commit a horrible crime and the consequences change his life.
Ok. So criticisms. I guess you can say the art here is kind of empty. Not very detail heavy compared to other manga. Imo that works because it's a character driven story and the art mostly focuses on exaggerated facial expressions that convey emotions. Also some of the plot points, especially in the middle parts, were pretty out there.
Now is it good? I believe your mileage on this will depend. Because a lot of the things shown here are directly inspired by the author's own life and his inner thoughts. So you won't find a typical by the books genre story line built entirely to boost sales and make money. It's complex real shit (at least some of it's less outlandish elements) and your appreciation may depend on how much of this , or something close enough you have experienced personally. Think "shy quiet kid with childhood trauma."
Now did I like it? Yes absolutely. But this shit and my interpretation of it's conclusion sent me into a 3 day depression spiral. And I won't be revisiting it anytime soon for the sake of my mental sanity. Would I recommend it though? Yes, it's atleast worth trying. It's also rather short, you can finish it in a weekend.
