I was never a gym rat, however I always wanted to progress and make myself stronger.
Recently the feeling of it wouldn't matter is getting stronger each day:

  • I'm already relatively lean with a healthy BMI.
  • I hate wasting time on exercising, when I can learn something more useful, or even doing something fun.
  • It feels stupid, lifting heavy object - rest- repeat.
  • Will help in self defence, but martial arts are more effective - and a gun is the most effective anyway.
Anyone else here struggled with it?

lifting man made metal for no reason

If you are at the point where you think that you could spend your time otherwise, maybe it's time to do just that.

I took a few years off at one time, I ended up regretting it, looked worse, felt worse.

Just lower yourself to a maintenance routine for a bit and have a break.

Yeah maybe you're right, even doing a third of the volume is better than nothing

I went there for a month but I didn’t like it.

Now I remember I’m still signed up and have payed 60 dollars for two months on a gym I haven’t gone to

Happened to me as well

Yeah just ride out the apathy, you might just be overtrained, CNS fatigue and all that.

Have a light few weeks and then maybe look at changing your programme, I switch things in and out as I get bored.

Had a mad 3 months of blitzing KB’s circuits at the end of my workouts to mix it up.

I think my routine is fine, it's my depression telling me im doing this for no reason. That theres no hope anyway

Whats kb circuits?

This, you’ll want to go back eventually

Thanks for the support guys' you are the best:feelsaww::feelscomfy:

It feels stupid, lifting heavy object - rest- repeat.
I think thats the main problem, if you enjoy doing exactly this you feel bad if you cant go to the gym. But I think there is no way to force oneself to enjoy smth.

Maybe you should try a different sport

As a incel you have to exercise to survive in this hostile world, that's how I see it.

You can grow to like something, I used to hate training legs but in the end it was only because it was a weak area.

When the gains started coming, I began to like it, a lot of the enjoyment comes from the endorphins which people don’t get the first time they go in a gym or if you don’t train enough volume.

Hi I would pick up a sport

Been meaning to go to the gym. Kinda just holding it off as long as possible. Not super confident it’ll do even a minuscule amount of difference

You get what you put in, the first few months while you adapt to the delayed onset muscle soreness and increase your work capacity can be demotivating.

Stick through it and blitz a PPL while eating enough protein, add some cardio at the end of every workout and just try to progressively overload the amount.

If you get through that first hurdle and stick with it you can see some changes in 3-6 months, which will motivate you to stick with it.

Yeah maybe, I used to run but much less so today. Maybe I should run 1-2 times per week.
Maybe even starting a martial art like boxing or something, although I don't have a gym close to me.

This too, it's dangerous to be weak in this world - especially for us.

I never needed gains to like the gym, I alwaxs enjoyed it

I was thinking of going to the gym to gain more muscle and shed a bit of fat but I don't know if it's worth it anymore as a 30+ autistic oldcel.
