Looking to buy a used car.
My zip code is 60561(chicago USA)

My budget is 1-5k cash, or if im going to finance it can't be above 18k USD.

I want a nice reliable car, but I mean if im spending money on a car I want it to look nice as well.

Can be sedan, coupe, crossover, luxury, sports.

No chevy, no chrysler, no ford.
I looked at used bmws(and from what I come across they are unreliable money pits when used)

I am really worried that my only real option for a reliable decent car might be financing a 2016, Honda Accord.

Idk are volvos, audis, volkswages reliable? I kind of really don't want to spend a chunk of money on a bloke/square car that I don't even like, but I don't want to buy a nice looking/driving car like BMW only for it to be completely unreliable and filled with all types of issues.

Anyways, Im open to suggestions. Please help.

Volvos are pretty reliable. Get a 242 turbo if you can.

Tbh if im spending more than 5k USD on a used car, I want a nice USED car.

Are BMWs really unreliable pieces of garbage that start to break down as soon as warranty runs out(thats what the overall consensus that Ive heard at least)? Even if they are made and assembled in Germany and not in USA?

1.Like this BMW was owned by a woman(less aggressive driving=less damage to the engine)
2. The car was made and assembled in Germany, and it has 70k~ miles.

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/d/naperville-2012-bmw-5-series-528i-drive/6821792822.html

Engine parts replaced before warranty.(why would anything in the engine compartment need replacing on a car that has less than 70k miles???)

.....

I mean I could buy a ToyotaCamry, but that car is so meh. Do they come with nicer interiors or are they all standard?

Why do you advertise to buy a car here. Just go on sites that are made for that.

If you buy a used car, things will break. That's just how it is, no way around it.
On older cars, things will break that are cheap and easy to fix.
On newer cars, things will break that cost a fuckton and need a specialist to repair it.
You just have to decide if you want expensive repairs on a newer car or cheap repairs on an older car.
The newer car will give you better gas mileage, better safety and will make you look rich, but it comes at the cost of expensive repairs.

I know the logical choice is to get a Toyota Camry.

Honestly, if I could find a femoid, and charge her half the rent instead of paying all of it myself, I could easily justify buying the BMW. Since the BMW would act as a necessary status symbol messing with the femoids brain into not cycling me immediately.

I really wish the pretty BMWs were actually reliable cars.

Japanese cars are the best. Toyota is probably the most reliable car there is. There's plenty of used Toyotas that fit your price range but if you want a cheap sports car get the Toyota Celica 2002

Okay I have been looking for a while and doing research on cars, reliability and all that.
I am def not buying any American cars or European cars.

My two previous cars were 1996 Chevy Cavalier, and 1998 Honda Accord.

So pretty much I've decided to go between

Lexus rc 350 F sport(2015)

Or

Lexus ES 300H (2016)

I have a couple of variants picked out for each model.

1. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/227594537

This is the 350 Rc F sport coupe, it's sporty/luxury, looks AMAZING, inside and outside. Fast and comfortable, but maybe not as practical due to gas mileage, limited space.

I like this car a lot, but my main problem is I am 5'8 155lb white 28 y/o khhv. I kind of don't want to live up to the meme "can't get girls/has small dick", buys a sports car.
In a way it just screams I want attention/insecurity, but I like the car so idk if I should even give a fuck honestly. (Shit gas mileage 20 mpg)

2. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/229008809

Lexus ES 300h (hybrid 40-50mpg)

This car has decent/nice exterior(vastly inferior to the rc coupe tho), amazing gas mileage, very very reliable being a hybrid and a lexus, it has a stunning interior, slightly cheaper. This would be the economy/luxury vehicle.

IDK obv I like the RC coupe more, but the hybrid gets double MPG, is cheaper, and will probably be more reliable in the long term.
IDK which one to get, need your opinions.

I'm being pressured into buying a newer car.
This is what I've done in the past, buy a cheap car for less than 1k, except I had insurance which is such a scam...
(I've had 1996 chevy cavalier(payed $650), and 1998 Honda accord(payed 800$))

My initial idea was honestly to find a car for 1.5k USD, buy it, and have it for 2-3 years until it breaks

---

The reasoning for the Lexus is only that I would attend local social gatherings, and the luxurious car could potentially score me a 4/10 foid that is approaching the wall 27+ and is looking for her beta provider, the car would act as a signaling tool that I'm going to be the safe door mat that will take care of her and provide the beta bucks.

You need to take into consideration that I'm 28 y/o khhv, this isn't a meme for me, I am approaching my thirties... And i mean no matter how fake or superficial these relationships would be with these women looking for their beta bucks provider, I want to experience the illusion of it...I mean YOLO dude, what's a stack of cash going to do for me...should i save every penny until I'm 60

Car culture makes me sick. The average car payment Americans are paying is $550/mo, just to have something flashy to show off to strangers and neighbors.

Toyota is the gold standard. They win in almost every car segment. Honda second.
