His brother bullied him and went on to have a successful life and family of 8 kids with the guy's ex-girlfriend.

And he HAD gf's.
His life sucked for sure and he got the short end of the stick no stick at all and I don't know how he was bullied but I wouldn't celebrate this.
But it shows that letting your relatives rot is a bad idea, you should try to help them or at least not make their life harder.

He still had girlfriends, their generation had it easy. He should have been just move to another state, try to maintain a job there and he could've been just fine instead of serving two consecutive life sentences.
