It's interesting how most people know "chink" and "gook" but only a few people know about "nip". A pet peeve of mine is when people use these three slurs for someone of the wrong Asian ethnicity. If you're going to call someone a gook they'd better be a Korean, Vietnamese or Filipino person. Likewise "chink" is for Chinese people and "nip" is for Japanese people. I suppose it could be argued that getting these wrong intentionally might make these slurs even more insulting, but personally I think it is a form of self-own. The most scathing insults are the specific ones.
