In this hypothetical situation, I would be just as evil as the killer. I knew what was going to happen, and I had the ability to stop it from happening, but I deliberately and knowingly let it happen anyway.
If I willingly let someone torment my child, I would not be a loving father. God willingly let's the devil torment his children. God is simply not loving.
