Illegally squatting on public land or state parks you can do, but unless it is really remote prepare to be harassed by wilderness park rangers. Also, the more remote the wilderness it is where you're very far from human civilization the harder it is to procure resources and fresh water for drinking overtime. You might think you have all the camping resources you need to last a few years in the wilderness, that is, until all the outside weather elements destroy half your shit and supplies. Happened to me in the early portion of this winter.
I love the wilderness and nature, I really like being away from other people, but there's many perils out there where one wrong move you'll be dead. Still, I like the adrenaline rush of it all.
