I've been reading some John Kenneth Galbraith, he was an economist from the 1950s who notoriously popularized some left-wing economic thinking. He was an advisor to Kennedy, and formerly worked under President Roosevelt as the wartime economic commander.

The leftists of the 1950s were very different from the freaks we have today. I wish I lived in a world where the difference between the left and the right were on rigorous policy matters like resource allocation, not a fundamental difference in reality between us and these gender warped feminist nutjobs.

John Kenneth Galbraith
He covers up the real causes of the Great Depression in the most popular book on the matter.

I can't believe how dumb most Americans are that they can't see the conspiracies these people engaged in to get us into war.

Some books claim the left and right were unified from FDR to LBJ because of Great Depression, WW2, and the JFK assassination.

The Communist witch hunts emboldened the left in the 50s. Before they were destroyed in the 60s.

Eisenhower to Obama wasn't that different. The culture war took over 30 years to progress .

what are the big things separating the left of the 50s from the modern left, that makes you have this opinion?

I'm not saying he's right on everything, I'm saying that the "Liberal Intellectual" of the 1950s was probably far more like us than any Soy left wing normie today. If someone from this forum met Galbraith at the bar, they would probably assume he's a social Conservative. He would have been relatively anti-LGBTQ+, anti-woke, anti-feminist (at least in the modern sense), and wouldn't be a total degenerate. Leftists of the 1950s would be simply policy focused.

To quote my previous response: "f someone from this forum met Galbraith at the bar, they would probably assume he's a social Conservative. He would have been relatively anti-LGBTQ+, anti-woke, anti-feminist (at least in the modern sense), and wouldn't be a total degenerate. Leftists of the 1950s would be simply policy focused". In the book he makes reference to homosexuality being a delinquency, and I read a few verses that implied traditional gender roles. These are comments that would have someone labelled as a sexist homophobe today, but they were casually thrown into an economics book written by a 1950s leftist. I'm talking in very vibes based terms right now so it's hard to find too many examples, but to put it bluntly, Galbraith did not give me the impression of being a total soy fag like a modern redditor or Democratic voter would today.

the second paragraph in the message you quoted explains his opinion

modern leftism is 100% moral stances, 1950s politics was actually still pretending to care about economic policy

Left use incels as a scapegoat. Every good thing about them they turned on their heads fuck em
