I wasted my 11th and 12th for preparing for this stupid shitass exam, only to fail. I took a drop and didn't study anything. Now only 2 months are left for the exam, I'm so cooked man. I should've just joined a tier3 and rot. My parents are gonna kill me this time if I fail bruh, I'm so fucked man

So glad I'm done with that shit. I'm a collegecel now.

Taking drop and still only getting tier 3 is the actual suifuel. That's why I didn't go for drop and took a tier 3 without trying again. Ye JEE madarchod mere bass ki baat nahi hai.

Prudent call

Been there, done that. Go over one shot lectures with a greater focus on Physics and Chemistry because they're easier to wrap up in a short timeframe

What are you doing these days ?

Do you guys pursue these impossibly competitive exams on your own or under your parents' pressure?
Thank fuck my parents were so fucking laid back. My average score in science was 90+/100 in the secondary exam. Still, my parents never pushed me in this delusional direction: Science in higher secondary -> JEE -> IIT after I told them 11/12th science was way beyond me.

This or neet, my parents wanted to me to become a doctor but I didn't. I've always wanted to be an engineer this is why I chose JEE. But lockdown absolutely fried my brain, my most crucial years went down the drain. Also depression hit me pretty badly, stuff like that. Also lack of guidance, I couldn't see any good career options in fields outside of PCMB.

I don't think it's lockdown. Any field of science past secondary education is an entirely different ballgame in India.

Bhai I am in the exact same situation. Over for droppercels

I chose this path myself, I really believed I could do it. Also JEE is the most natural path for anyone choosing PCM. Now when I am in the end of my drop year I realize that I really could have cleared JEE if I studied just decent enough right since 11th. But my 11th was brutally fucked (I almost failed), and 12th was semi fucked so I just focused on boards.

Having studied in India before, I’d say it’s really tough for a lot of students cuz from 11th grade onwards they get hit with completely new concepts all at once. Imagine being introduced to dy/dx in physics when your maths foundation isn’t even solid yet. From what I’ve seen, many students just end up memorising formulas and vomiting them out in exams, without really understanding what’s going on.

Most just overestimate themselves because they do very well until secondary.
The culture of memorization over conceptualization and assimilation in Indian education doesn't help either.

old thread but i'm a droppercel as well

Man education system is the only reason im glad not to be from mainland. That shit is brutal

You should be grateful, but the frequent mog from whites compensates for the suffering you skipped in mainland

Thats why im saying its the only reason.

Im average asf in terms of intelligence or studies but still always could land a good paying job easily.

I think i woukd have drowned in mediocrity and misery in Endia

Did you ever have any real passion for this thing?

JEE seems tough man
It's doable if you're consistent with studies and have an atleast average IQ also it's the vast amount of syllabus which makes it exponentially harder.

Yeah I did. But I was consumed by terrible mental health, a hypercritical and pessimistic Outlook on life. I drowned in self-doubt, questioning my decisions each time instead of working on it. Also various addictions ruined me.

Sounds like me for the past 7-8 years. Alright, as far as exams go, if you ever decide to stop procrastinating and drowning in self-doubt, I can give you some advice.

First, stop worrying about getting the results/score that you could not realistically achieve in the given time frame. Some people get too frustrated that they cannot get the best possible outcome and give up on the whole thing. Don't do that. Try to do the best that you can do now and worry only about that.

Revise a lot. Don't try to start new topics that you are weak at. Focus entirely on your strenghts and try to perfect them as much as possible. Think about ROI always. If something is taking too much time or effort and does not translate that well into marks, forget about it. Cover the things that are easier and will help you score.

Go for width instead of depth. Knowing the basic aspects of each topic will help you far better than knowing everything about one. Of the exam you are talking about is multiple choice then sometimes basic understanding can help you in elimination.

Start practicing papers. Doesn't matter how bad you score. Don't think about that. You are in a race against the clock and you should not lose marks to bad strategy.
