No, just, no. In fact colourful and bright plumage is bad for survivability because it makes you more obvious to predators. Peacock's plumage slows down their flying speed and makes them easier to catch. There is no advantage whatsoever to traits developed for attractiveness, in fact it is usually the opposite, they usually decrease the survivability of the animal for the purpose of making them do better in intraspecies competition. The reason why these traits propogate is because more attractive animals mate more, so in this case sexual selection is decreasing the survivability of the species.And that simply means that those attributes and characteristics are beneficial for survival in their current environment. It looks like it's in no way possible to be advantageous, but there is always a method to nature's madness.
