I'm still learning German on my spare time though. Ideally I would like to master Russian and Chinese too, but one must remain realistic: fully mastering a language is gigantic work. It's probable that neural implants for natural language processing and translation will be on the market by the time I fully master German, Russian and Chinese.

I tried Japanese but dropped it early, way too much work for hobbies. Chinese is useful and all but I think I'm staying within the Latin/Germanic boundaries as far as language learning goes from now on. Spanish, French and Italian would all be cool, but I'm solely focusing in German until I feel my German is good enough, although English is so much more relevant outside of the German Sprachraum that I always end up using English more than German anyway. This forum is an example of that. Nordic languages and Dutch would be amusing but they are useless to me tbh.
