Because nobody cares. Even Ted Bundy got labeled as an incel and nobody cared. The media saw that lying has no consequence (and most parts of the academia too). This is why you can CNN reporters standing before a burning building with blacks rioting/looting in the background while saying that the protest is peaceful, this would be a satire in a healthy world, but this persiflage is a reality in our clown's world.
The media in Europa is no better: A few years ago a schizophreniac shot up multiple immigrants because voices commanded him to do so and because he thought that they held back the invention of a time machine. Guess who got blamed? Furthemore, if you read the thing and said that this sentence was taken out of context people looked at you in a worired/amused manner. Important is that the media/certain parts of academia realized that it can lie without consequences because the cattle is literally too stupid to read the thing on their own - and when you read it on your own without thousand filters by journalists you are labeled as the crazy person. This happens in a time of "scientific journalism" with papers too. Some journo says this is what the paper says and then it is what the paper says and "I fucking love science".
