The rich Thai or the upper middle class have a very bad perception of Farang and views anyone who marry westerners as “Mia Farang” it’s a very strong stigma, even if the Farang are coming from a very rich family. Although, it must be noted that most of the upper class and upper middle class will marry with only and purely richer westerners as well. Eg. They met at Uni or at work.
Outlooks for westerners are a bit better off now, as there seem to be a slight increase in young Thais dating westerners but yet the percentage is still very small.
Regarding the Thai or asian female preference over caucasian is inherently wrong and a very egotistical view. There might be some fanfare over some Hollywood actors but it will never exceed local stars or Korean stars.
As it has been said, very sadly, westerners are most of the time, almost 100% actually viewed in Thailand as moneybag for the older, unattractive Thai female. Hope this view may change and people experience each other through real interaction not preconceived prejudice.
