In particular:

He says that all it is going to take is a few of these morons doing a few big stupid things and substantially damage these companies if it ever hits the media. He said that he blames "diversity initiatives" for part of this and that he has been at some big tech companies that are now literally hiring based on skin color or genitals rather than credentials.

I figure it important to bring this into discussion as compsci tend to attract incels, especially unicels whose career aspirations are in this field of study.

They'll probably automate CS jobs in the future.

Agreed with basically everything. You can't give hundreds of thousands of people a degree and expect it to keep its value.

Fuck things are going to get a LOT worse for people. The economy is slowing down and there simply aren't enough jobs because practically everything that needs to be built to sustain life comfortably has already been built. Civilization has reached its advanced stages and now is the time for the decadence and the rotting. A LOT of people (men mostly) are going to suffer like hell. Expect the incel and doomer horde to blow up.
I expect domestic terrorism to rise.

I heard all of this 20 years ago also, and the market is still very good for any CS. He is right about the stupid diversity in some companies.

JFL @ being a white male in 2019

Even a technical writer has to know pre-cal and what have you to even be at the table. That professor thinks a lot of people will just hop into that industry and make it through, I disagree. This ain’t no GTA 5 mission.

When you autograd all the foids you fill up the market with tons of CS. Supply and demand.

Did you? What were the concerns raised about CS 20 years ago? I'm curious. I'm thinking of doing a CS degree.

If you are a CS major that enjoys the subject and is good at what you do, there is nothing to worry about.

This is why I avoided CS when every other internet dweeb like me was getting into it. Whats even funnier is when all of these CS guys start trickling down into fields like IT and networking so basically all of those average Joe types who got a certificate from a local CC thinking they could get a nice paying white collar job are doomed.

These are all good things though, we are slowly rising up to the age of NEETdom and escaping late stage capitalism.

Self taught is the way to go

I cant fucking wait for this.

STEM is becoming a joke on the whole

Almost same concerns. The most frightening thing was that everything will be automated. I recommend to go for IT career. Perfect for incels.

I do think some programming jobs are over hyped and do not require much intensive day to day thought, but I think the industry itself will be fine. I don't think an actual professor said this, but rather the user made it up and the sub is just circle jerking itself. The explanation of Moore's Law affecting CS graduates was so incomplete that I have to think the user doesn't even understand the concept. End of Moore's Law would actually be a boon to CS majors since it would mean there would be more efforts to optimize code for certain ICs since improvements in hardware would be less frequent.

Also, while diversity is encouraged throughout bigger tech companies, the process is overblown. Even though a company like Google can afford to stick some feelgood hires here and there, they would be broke if those hires proliferated throughout the company. Small companies (<500) cannot even afford to hire someone incompetent. I think a lot of people think it is unfair that some demographics are ignored while others are praised and I can agree with that, but it is uncommon for incapable people to be readily hired over competent candidates. I wouldn't discourage anyone from applying to a CS related job.

In the end, just about every job will be automated and the hungry, unwashed masses (us) will be left to fight and kill each other for the remaining scraps of uncooked horse meat that remain.

I was initially gonna double major in math and com sci

I knew from the beginning that computer science seemed too good to be true. Now however, I see that there are poopies everywhere from hours worked to breaks to hr and other future problem. Add to that the immigrants and international Ching Chongs and what you have is very stinky and filled to the brim with leftist sloppy doo.

Good thing I'm going into computer networking, lmao.

Well good thing i graduated in CS, now i have another reason to kill myself.

Although the oversaturation issue with CS in the future has already happened to most majors. There's no escaping it, NEET while you can boyos, the future is going to be even bleaker than it is now.
