So this was somthing that happend a week ago. But I have have a OTF switchblad for a knife. Yeah I know its illegal in WA state, no one cares besides TSA especially since Im not using it for hood rat shit. But a switchblade like that comes at a uniqe cost.
The way it works it needs cleaning because the blade or the backside of the blade goes though a slote were 90 percent of the handle is a slot for the blade. But you also need to lubricate it with oil so the metals dont scratch eachother up. Well usually Ill use gun oil as it works for a good 2-3 months before needing a clean and lube.
Well last week I had the bright idea kf using canola oil since I was at my moms house and was due for a cleaning. She had this klien set with the proper TX bit to take apart my knife.
Well the oil lubed the knife at first. But during my time at my uncles the oil decided it would rather act like glue instead of oil. And jammed my knife up multiple times.
Then came the picture. The canola oil was so bad I had to spend a fucking hour to clean all that shit off the blade, inner handles (the handle is 2 peices). I had to use a bit of dawn dish soap, and then re lube the whole fucking thing with gun oil like I should have and then it worked like normal. That picture was when I fixed the knife.
Morral of the story. Canola oil deosnt work well with illegal switchblades. So dont use it.
