Back in high school we would have what we call "socratic seminars" . All students form a circle and usual the teacher also is in the circle as well. They would then throw in a question like "what is the meaning of the allegory of ____ in the book called ______ by the author named ________?" and the worst part of this was that it would count as participation grade so the more questions you asked and the more answers you made, the higher points you'd get. if you didn't answer any questions, it would hurt your grade immensely. I'm talking about 2 things spoken and you'll get a 40%. Before your very eyes you'll say something and it'll be ignored but the teacher would prioritize the better looking kids. It wasn't a coincidence that the better looking kids would get A's and ugly kids failed. Because you couldn't raise your hands, people would speak at the same time and then the teacher would say (good looking kids name) continue even though YOU spoke at the same time as well and by the time he/she had answered the question it was already unto the next. You'd see that happening over and over and over again.
