The official bullet hells are way too hard for me to play, so I just followed all the fan works like memes, artworks and Twilight Frontier games. I feel like I'm not a real fan because of that even though I have been into it for well over 16-17 years at this point

This. I found out about Touhou through a YTP (iykyk), but I didn't think much of the franchise until I started lurking 4chan. Both sides of the political spectrum enjoy bullet hell games with decent waifus
