At my last job, a guy forgot his ID badge. Should've been a simple fix: go to reception, get a temp badge, move on.
Instead, they made him hold a sign that said something like: "I'm an idiot who forgot his badge!" Then they took a photo of him holding that sign, printed it on his temp badge, and made him wear it all day.
The guy was grinning like a trained seal the whole time, fake-laughing. The whole lobby full of normies were all smiles and giggles. No one even looked concerned, like public humiliation is now "part of the fun.”
This public shaming was disguised as "team bonding." They wanted him (and everyone else) to know who's in charge. If this happened in school, they'd call it bullying, but at work it's considered 'fun'. I don't think it builds accountability, just resentment and fear. It just conditions you to accept degradation with a smile.
That’s the trap, they take advantage of you knowing that you are reliant on a paycheck so they can piss on your dignity.
Imagine being the quiet, awkward guy who already struggles with social anxiety, that's psychological waterboarding.
This is why I'm asking if this is humiliation or if I'm just overthinking it, because all the normies were grinning and laughing. If they tried doing this to me, I'd have told them to 'Fuck off' and would rather get fired before ever posing like a circus animal.
