Is there a lack of normal-looking guys in games now?

Back in the '90s we seemed to have more male characters who just looked normal. Doomguy, Blake Stone, Guybrush Threepwood, Snake Logan (in Bio Menace), Commander Keen, Halloween Harry, etc.

There was this feeling like it was OK to just be a normal guy. Not every guy had to be a Chad like Duke Nukem!

But these days I feel like that is missing? Does anyone else feel that?
