Porn and VR technology, waifu bot meme, advanced sex dolls. Are these just for laughs or does anyone believe technology along with artificial relationships and sex may become so convincing as to be satisfied with or even to immerse ourselves entirely in VR and delude ourselves out of reality, or at least prioritize VR as the center of our identity?

lmao the vr foids will go for vr chads im calling it right now

Lotus Eater style? No, there are probably ethics issues there. They can't make it addictive. They can't make it so it becomes your new reality.

It is our only hope. It will come eventually.

Yes, they can't allow that. They still need you as a tax slave.

it’s a vague vision for sure. But in an increasingly isolated civilization couldn’t the culture begin to prioritize VR counterpart lives to real ones, people with minimal interaction on the street then bursting with life online? If the shit is convincing enough even normies would be tempted to look perfect in VR

I dont want a vr girlfriend
Then imagine this: VR revolution overwhelms people with fake, robotic, perfect human appearance. This births a counter culture renaissance of reality fetishists, people attracted to ultra human, ultra flawed, non robotic appearance. Ugly is the new hot, because ugly is real.

I think waifubots are still decades away. Probably won't be a thing for the next 30 to 50 years or so. Too many features need to simulated. Robotics need to get advanced enough for her to walk. Someone talented has to find a way to create artificial bodies and artificial faces without them looking uncanny valley. Warmth and musk has to be simulated too. Batteries need to be good enough for her to operate for hours. Not to mention it all has to be put together into a machine that has to weight approximately the same as a biological woman does. That's a lot of work and cutting ege technology required which means that even if waifubots will become a reality they won't be cheap enough for the vast majority of men to enjoy them. Experimental tech is always prohibitively expensive after all.

However, what I think will happen is that a Joi from Bladerunner like AI companion is going to made quite soon, just in VR instead of hologram. She doesn't have to be be sentient, just programmed good enough to simulate human interactions. Without a real body to worry about no religious group or some crazy feminist would be able to torpedo the project in its infancy either. The technology is already here. It's just a matter of using it.
