AI is making most software jobs obsolete. Lots of layoffs these days, maybe permanently. The straight up web developer career is probably over at this point. No way to break into the field without experience because there's lot of experienced developers who are out of work right now and the field is flooded with tons of really shitty developers and Indian immigrants willing to work for nothing. Even big companies like Google, IBM, Facebook etc are firing a lot of their staff and replacing them with AI.
Maybe getting into electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering is a better bet these days since those jobs can't be automated away so easily. But the job market is super bad, I think AI is impacting almost every type of job.

You still have to deal with people. I do all the technical work as an engineer, do the budget, and give the presentation. Why should I put so much effort into life when I dont have any friends or anyone who loves me to come home to. Its exhausting.
