Is software engineering worth it? I’m good at math.

I’m really considering it when I return to college.

Nowadays if you do not have someone close to you working in a company then you have no real chance of getting in. Plus the whole Ai thing is decreasing the amount of necessary developers, testers and debuggers etc. I personally did try CS and failed at math, though I could not even get an internship. The companies I applied to didn't even respond to me giving them my CV.

Honestly chose something else, anything else, preferably something related to something physical like mechanical engineering.

It is ultimately your decision, but honestly the tech sector is inflated. A correction is still coming so it'd be irrational to get into it right now when there is going to be a lot of shrinkage in the future.

Yes but it's best to start your own business instead. Go on Twitter and learn from developers building their own businesses with AI while traveling the world. Look for digital nomads, indie makers, solopreneurs, etc., keywords like that. Guys like @levelsio, @marc_louvion, etc. are really inspirational.

A lot of the software jobs of the future will be automated by AI or belong to H1B jeets and diversity hires. Software is eating the world though, and AI might actually increase the need for software developers, it's hard to say.
