Serious Is society becoming dumber?

This was my theory as well. They're selecting the comments etc they want you to see and votebotting it to the top. They're probably viewbotting the channels and videos they want you to see too... (((youtube)))

I have literally had my own comments edited and altered by Youtube. I also made posts against Jews in a Stephen Colbert video and would receive notifications for any responses in each comment section. What I saw was the top 2 commentors, about 5 times in a row, commented at the exact same time. In other words, the top 2 commenters were commenting in synch and were bots. I called them out on it and had my comment instantly deleted. Another insidious and devious tactic is leaving stupid/violent messages (that Youtube would write), and deleting well thought out ones. If Youtube came out with an immigration video, all of the 'gas the kikes!' comments were left up and proven to be written by Youtube bots. The good comments were instantly deleted. It was to create an image of extremism in anyone who disagreed with the agenda. But of course, extreme situations call for extreme measures. I used to be calm and patient. Not anymore. It's now or never. Total eradication of humanity (not by me, but by normies) or separation of some of the races.

People are dumber on average than people 60 yeara ago, for example.

Im world war 2 everyone and their dog spoke at least 3 languages and were bettwr at creativity and problem solving. Maybe it was just becquse hard times require more effort and now people just dont give a fuck. I dunno.

It was always dumb, it's just that people knew how to keep their fucking mouth shut.

no, I think it´s just you OP.

In this case it probably has to do with the stronger enforced content policy, power trippping and consolidating corrupt mods and the new layout. The rats (i.e. high IQ OC quality posters) are leaving the sinking ship first.

Idiocracy started when the 50% of the population that is incapable of objective thinking was elevated to be the equal of the other 50%. Culture just dropped instantly after that.

Overall IQ is decreasing mostly due to the genetically inferior having the most kids.

I think the example here is more lookism than intelligence, and it's only going to get worse. Instagram/Snapchat will be replaced by the next fad which will likely be more video based, and that will only increase superficiality.

Is it just the natural effect of Reddit becoming mainstream, or is mean IQ dropping fast?

It's mostly just the result of Reddit (and the internet as a whole) having become mainstream.

The internet in general has gone to shit. Low effort memes, pun chains, childish name-calling, childish sarcastic mockery of the other side....everything that gets upvoted appeals to the lowest common denominator.

If you want to spread a message to a large audience, you're much better off putting two lines of impact font on an image that strawman the opposite side of the issue than you are constructing a well thought out argument with proper citation. Attention spans are far too low for anyone to bother reading the latter.

Another thing to consider is that most web traffic is now from mobile users...and nobody wants to read paragraphs of text on a phone, let alone type that much. They want 10 words of impact font on an image that they can laugh at while sipping their 5 dollar frappuccino at starbucks.

"Meme culture" is another thing that drove down the overall quality of posts pretty much everywhere. Back in my day, memes were generally specific to a certain website. You had YTMND memes, 4chan memes, Something Awful memes, etc. If you posted a meme from one website to another, they'd tell you to get the fuck out. Now everything has become homogenized into one "meme culture" and every website, every forum, every subreddit uses the same memes and just changes the text on them to suit the political agenda or topic.
