Is quick reading legit?

I buy a book with a software to improve my velocity reading,it say that is possible to go from 240 words per minute to 800 wpm,1200 wpm max.

No idea, but I suppose so; I used to read a lot of books when younger, but I think reading and digesting information properly is more important than doing it fast.

But, generally speaking it is because these things are easy to comprehend without a brain. Most important information is extremely dense and requires abstract thinking. Reading speed optimization is really like memorizing certain phrases/ their appearance and that is incredibly wasteful once you get to advanced reading levels where the information presentation is diverse/ hard to cache.
