Or should you just be getting drunk or high everyday? I went to rehab last summer and first thing I did when I got back home was get a pint of vodka and have been getting fucked up damn near everyday since.

Depends on the substance. For alcohol probably not worth quitting as it takes decades to do damage. If one's drug of choice is meth or fentanyl well even as an incel don't think those problems on top of everything are worth it or a good idea.

My dad’s an alcoholic and was homeless for some time until he got hooked up with a really cheap 1 bedroom apartment. Shotgun does seem like the most efficient way to go, but I’m on a mental health committal so I don’t know if I could even get a pistol. I’m not that suicidal though regardless. I just passively have feelings of wishing I was dead.

Well I used to get drunk every day, it fucked me up physically and mentally too much, so had to cut down
As someone who can barely function sober, it is damn near impossible.
