not in our situation because we are low status men. Our equivalent ancestors could’ve died because of what ppl think abt them due to their low power. We have this instinct but not so much for high status men. It is also similar nowadays still, people try to make incels die all the time for fun
This isn't even a good thing to begin with. You have to be mindful of how others think about you. Otherwise you'll be mistreated far worse than usual, making your life even harder than it already is.
There's the "thinking I" portion of your mind/self that you think gives you control and is in "charge" and wills your actions...that deliberating voice in your head. Well it turns out that feature of your mind can't really probe into the rest of the brain and most of our self/emotional life/being is rooted in those deeper regions. Jonathan Haidt in THE HAPPINESS HYPOTHESIS compared the self to an elephant which has a rider. The rider is your deliberating/cogitating self/"I." It can guide and steer the elephant but is also completely helpless if the elephant decides to go in its own direction. It has no choice but go along, trapped. Often when this is happening we're still under the illusion of being in control. To cut it short, your social anxieties come from the elephant. The rider is helpless against it.
I genuinely don’t give a fuck what normies think, but it doesn’t make life any better, I just don’t waste time self loathing after I do something stupid, people still treat me as subhuman but at least I can have fun fucking around
