Do you have any strategy game experience? If you just play shooters and haven't played many strategy games then I don't know if you would like it. Also, do you have interest in WWII?
Yeah i have played rise of nations on roblox, also i am interested in all types of history and politics including ww2.

It's a type of game that either you'll love and put thousands of hour into vanilla and modded or you're going to get bored of in 5 minuets. I'd say get the base game and try it out and if you enjoy it then get the subscription so you can play the dlcs without paying like 200+ dollars. Or just pirate it if you'd prefer
100%, I have 4k hours on it and I still play it almost daily its modding community alone makes the game worth it.

I have every DLC except for graveyard, I spent like 120 bucks on it all, I have over 400 hours total, and yes it is worth it, IF you have the money, I'd recommend pirating it first to try it out and get the hang of the mechanics before spending 120 bucks on a game you'll never touch, but you'll download alot of mods, and downloading mods for a pirated game just sucks ass.
You can side load the DLCs, you just have to re-download them for every update, I'd wait for the summer sale.

pirate It but I recommend looking at other formats of strategy too if this is your first. Simpler real time strategy with rpg aspects line bannerlord or strategy shooters with third person control like call to arms or map strategy like hoi4

the ai is terrible, the dlcs have bloated the game beyond belief, i have 500 hours in it, it is good but is not polished enough to be worth the full price.
Examples
one dlc added international arms market, cool in theory horrible in practice, the ai has zero idea how to use it and floods the market with useless shit that only adds more stuff to load and make the late game slower.
some dlc added plane, ship and tank designer, cool but once again the ai has zero idea how to use it and it is too easy to beat their idiotic designs, also the ai can have a top of the line jet fighter plane but still use the ww1 byplane sprite, fucking annoying and immersion breaking.

If you think HOI4 is "overly complicated" imagine if blud played Victoria 2/3 or EU5
I actually found victoria 3 to be alot easier than HOI4, i havent played eu5 yet but im really sure its not gonna be as bad as hoi4 IMO
I kinda understand Vic3 because once you learn about the building loop your gdp just skyrockets but EU5 genuinely has far more depth and has far more things for you to learn than HOI4. HOI is mostly about knowing what to build, doing your focuses, and pressing the execute battleplan button

yes but dont buy dlcs its a waste of cash, just install the dlc content from guys cracking them and also use CreamInstaller to activate.
