Apart from Red Dead 2, i dont have many games that require lots of processing power or have Ultra high graphic potential. Is it still worth getting Displayport or is HDMI enough ?

@KillNiggers

get displayport if your monitor supports high refresh rate

HDMI is enough but i use DP since it supports 144hz without issues plus it's less annoying to plug it into your GPU/Monitor

HDMI doesnt support 144hz flawlessly ?

I play with HDMI and I am doing fine.

vga mogs who gives a shit

I had issues with my Nvidia gpu, then moved to DP and all issues went away. Maybe my HDMI cable was old gen or something i dunno.

I suggest DP when possible to avoid HDMI cable confusion. HDMI is purposely mislabeled and confusing to keep you buying them, like USB.

DP is good for high hz.

So you are saying there is no differenece between HMDI 1.4 and 2.1 ?

There is a difference but you need to know what you're buying and what your device port is capable of.

DVI-D for the win.
Display Port is not as vibrant in colors.

HDMI is good for 60fps or 75fps in the case of older RES than 720p.(in 32 bit systems like Windows XP)
DVI-D or DP for whatever Else.

Barely anyone still uses DVI
Maybe because the latest monitors don't come with it. Or the most likely scenario, the monitors come with x2 HDMI inputs, and x2 DP inputs and not a DVI-D option.

mine ( an Asus Vg248QE 3D 144Hz 24" monitor ) Does have such Option. it is a 2013 monitor with very vibrant colors, but i Tone down the brightness both in the monitor and the PC 3D graphics panel. It is peak immersion. However, when looking at white pages for too long, i will get Tired enough to take a Break.

the monitor in question;

Desktops;
x1 Windows 10 1709 Build x64Bit Home Edition
x2 Windows XP Sp3 (one original, the other maxxed out in Specs)

it's mildly annoying to tighten the connectors on it

i have a server from 2010 that's vga only somehow lol

i used to have a monitor that was dual link dvi only, that was even more fun, laptops pretty much couldn't connect to it

either hdmi or displayport is fine unless you have a super hi res or high resolution monitor

Display port is better for higher hz

Displayport and HDMI have nothing to do with graphics quality. Displayport is the more "ethical" choice but HDMI is just as functional.

What does DPP have to do with ethic ?

it Goes in easy. you just tie up the bolts a bit on each side. i have more trouble removing a DP cable once it is inserted than a dual link cable.

i have never seen a dual link only monitor, nor a laptop with dual link input. the ones ive had did have vga input. As for monitors, DVI + VGA. CRT monitors always VGA. ( Samsung )

Enjoy your washed out colors guys!
DVI-D iz Da Best.
The colours are exactly the same? Most HDR monitors just support 10 bit with both HDMI and Displayport support.

Not exactly the same screen result. DP has less vibrant pixels compared to DVI-D, or even an HDMI cable.

It's exactly the same colour signal transmitted. Maybe there are some settings in the monitor which affect colour processing differently, but in principle, it should be the same. Maybe check if HDR is somehow disabled on DP?

Some monitors have different "presets" meaning they dont't share the same configuration saving system. However, the Asus VG248QE 3D monitor uses the same configuration for all channels. it does not have HDR options. HDR is just a gimmick. ive seen in other monitors. i can mimmick that effect by toying around with the contrast, brightness and RGB in the monitor + PC itself. Btw HDR enabled reduces the Lifespan of the monitor, same applies if you use 100% Brightness.
