Why Buddhism is True: The Science and Philosophy of Meditation and Enlightenment

(btw u should check this guy's works out. He wrote the book- "The moral Animal" on how so much of what we do in modern society is motivated by natural selection and our desire to pass our genes and it is the most black pilling book in existence).

Anyways in this book he goes on about how even though the supernatural parts of Buddhism (karma, reincarnation, gods) might be a cope but the secular parts (meditation/mindfulness/Understanding that society is a "maya"(illusion)/abstaining from worldly desires) and how to go about it is actually pretty darn dope.

It goes about how even though all religions are untrue and a bunch of fairytale bullshit it is Buddhism which has nailed down the sickness of the modern man and has provided ways thousands of years ago on how to deal with it.

Book has cited sources/research/ancedotes etc.

What do u brocels think? Should I take it seriously and start taking this Buddhism stuff seriously by getting into Mindfulness n all??

why would i want to sit and meditate when i could be playing vidya instead?

Some things just require you to get stuck in and see for yourself
Labelling something as cope seems a little counter-intuitive, perhaps
Forget about labels - apply the core tenets of mindfulness, meditation, to your life

Because video games won't give u freedom from the Maya of this world inkwell. Do u want enlightenment or being stuck in the cycle of life and death?:feelshehe:

Sure, hop into it. Meanwhile Chad is taking a virginity of yet another girl. Don't worry, though; I'm sure the book will give you the same satisfaction. A book for incel and a girl for Chad. Problem solved.

never could meditate tbh

@Transcended Trucel
Yes.
These type of 'spiritual copes' while helpful at times are generally unhelpful when it comes down to real life situations.
Sure it works when one is alone in the comfort of his home but once he is outside its not practical.
The removal of the 'desire' to be able to be happy is a cope since its a translation to 'I can't get what I want so I'm just going to pretend that I never needed it.'
^ explains it well

Such authors usually don't know about their own religion that much. You can find peace and good copes in Christian belief if you want.

Considering that I just joker laughed furiously from being such an ugly dumb loser I'm either doing it wrong or failing due to the methodology itself being flawed

Anyone who unironically uses the word mindfulness is just a fad jumper.

Yes, it’s a cope. Is it a good cope? Sure if you can actually buy into it. If meditation makes you feel better by all means be my guest.

They’re definitely right that one source of suffering is desire for things you cannot have.
