I really hate hearing people say shit like "if you change your mindset and really try, you can do anything". I was just curious if those rare brilliance moments are also down to some other force out of our control. It can't be all studying. There has to have been a force in play that made these brilliant minds discover the things they did. Like all the formulas, inventions, physics, mathematics. No way a certain mindset is the reason behind it. I'm not religious, but there has to be a higher power involved that bless certain people with this type of genius

Well, the brilliant minds that changed the world had a combination of both good genetics (High IQ) + hardwork (also using the hardwork did by other brilliant people in the past), so if you don't have both, don't expect to change mankind

Luck is everything

I made this post cause i watched this video from inceltv on how luck is everything. He mentioned how this one indian mathematician literally had his most famous formulas come to him in a dream. It really put everything into perspective

I don't know, most things you dream of (if not them all) are just memories of what you've seen in real life, but of course it can mix memories and create new situations with them, but only at some extent. Therefor isn't possible for your memory create a mathematic formula you've never seen before.

I think you are referring to ramanujan , who studied a lot and also was very gifted in terms of IQ, so yeah, it was just luck in his case, but not luck of dreaming about formulas, but luck of having a very high IQ.

But supposing that it was possible to dream about things that you never saw, then it would be possible for someone to dream about a mathemathic formula, but it would be very improbable. This explains it better: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_monkey_theorem everything has a probability of happening, even though a small one

Genetics are everything. Shit, even hard work is genetic.

Not anything, but anything that is within your physical, genetic, and circumstantial capacity. You can't do more than that.

Many strokes of genius are strokes of luck. Take Archimedes and how learned about density, for example. He didn't make that discovery sitting behind a desk and thinking. He was doing something completely mundane and lightning sparked in his mind.
