Personally I think its rather childish to believe in it. Or maybe not childish, but naive.
After all if you actually take a closer look at it, people tend to "love" how other people make them feel, but they don't really "love" the actual person.
Especially as a man, you will never be "loved" if you aren't attractive. Everyone wants to feel important and cared for, but women don't care for over 95% of men. We aren't attractive enough for them to feel positive emotions around us. In fact, some guys are so ugly that women feel disgusted by them.
If a woman accepts you because you're a provider, that's not love. That is using and abusing a man for his resources. If she wouldn't date you when you are poor but still financially responsible and self-sustaining, she doesn't love you.
