Is this a sign from the universe to just NEET and draw? Should I just go all-in with my autistic-tier art endeavors instead of trying to find a job anymore? Is this my villain origin story? Am I gonna make it? Is this how I end up creating the next Megg, Mogg, and Owl while NEETING at home living off gubbermint gimmes?

I get so envious when I see highschoolers or university students getting new jobs while I rot.

Your drawing is good, so go for it. Just know that It'll take a lot of time before you earn any money, if ever. It's supposed to be something that you do while you have another source of income, at least at the beginning, not a fix to the problem.

fortunately for me i got some neetbux (though not enough to sustain myself without dipping into savings) and i have my rent covered for most part. I still need to pay like $600 on rent out of my pocket though but for having my own studio in NYC that's pretty fucking good deal. I want to work for extra income but nobody is hiring me.

Art isn't guaranteed to pay off but it's still better to give it a shot and this is my chance, and it's not like other jobs are hiring me anyway or if they do, they fire me pretty quickly for having lung infections which I never had until I joined the military

Nah fuck commissions. I don't want to market myself like that, it's not a good look. A lot of online artists will hate me for saying this but it makes you look amateur deviantart-tier to do that, it's true. You ever see an actual professional and well respected artist do commissions? Nah unless it's like for a corporation or a big franchise and they're making like $1000+ per piece. I don't want to waste time drawing some furry's yiff or autistic weirdos sliding into my DMs asking me to draw their dumbass OCs or even borderline illegal shit, I don't need someone's money that much. Plus most of these niggas can just tell AI to make them pictures of their yiffsonas or their generic warlock. I mostly do stills and comics from my own universe. I've done animations before but that's not priority right now and will probably get into that if my following grows (and there is demand for animation) and I can start hiring assistants. I am planning to put together a portfolio and a business plan to ask for artistic grants.

Unless you want to do your own products and sell them (like a comic, for example) then animation projects are the only good remote NEET-friendly jobs that I know of. 2D-animation is still in a bit of a bubble, there is still a shortage of 2D animators for Japanese and US productions. Probably South Korean and Canadian productions as well. Chinese companies don't hire people abroad as far as I know though. Judging by your two pieces here you are certainly good enough to do that kind of work brocel.

If you are lucky you could strike gold doing your own thing and earn far more money, and maybe even with less effort (or at least a more comfortable schedule). I want to make my own comics, not really into making animations though I've done them in the past (nothing complex or advanced or for longer than 5 minutes). I thought of getting hired at an animation studio but I dont have an animation portfolio and I dropped out of art school a decade ago, and I wonder if I will chimp out or not get along with people and then damage my reputation. I am putting together a business plan to pitch to the SBA (Small Business Administration) and will ask for only $8k to get started, and need to make a portfolio of 30 pieces to show I am not some delusional hobbyist thinking his Sonichu will make him rich (though you do kind of have to be delusional to embark on this because nobody made it big by "being realistic")

I don't have regular NEETbux and trying to work another year to qualify for retirement in the future. I just need one more year.

I am technically homeless and living in a halfway house right now, i talk about it a bit on this forum too

I got approved for section 8 housing voucher and will be moving out in a few weeks, idk when. I found a place that accepts section 8 and hoping to find stability and finally get a real workspace and desk and buy a desktop with monitor so I can draw more
