So I am in first yr of my uni and I had left my major undeclared and was trying out different classes and there is this design course I have picked up and I think I have found my true calling.

It's a pretty broad class for beginners touching on everything from video editing to textile science to car design to interior design and Ui/Uxdesign/video game design etc etc

The teachers r great , the environment is tolerable and for the first time in my life I seem to be at the top of my class.

These classes are the only thing that make me get up from my bed and I think I have found my niche. The teacher told us that if we want to have this as our major we have to submit in applications by next month.

Next year we will go a bit more advance and the last two.years of the degree would be spent in specialising in one design course (ui/ux // car design//fashion design//video game design).

The problem? As much as I am loving this all and considering to put in an application and define this as my major I have some concerns about Ai replacing all design related jobs-

Think about it - Dall e and other Ai have been making such a wave in the Market and ironically opposite to what Normies used to say a few years ago Ai has mastered design/art related things.

And online I am seeing some people predict that in the next 5-6 yrs (when I would be entering the market) Ai would have long replaced Graphic artists/fashion designers/Video game designers...

So r there any artcels here who can provide me any insight. Would it be stupid to do a degree in design with the Ai risk looming????????

Don’t fall for the art school meme especially as an incel. Study something with guaranteed job outcome like programming, engineering or finance. You can do art related things on your own time.

this is just my opinion but i think learning code is more reliable at getting you a job even if you are an autist, while going into UX will require you to be a bullshitter and good at ace-ing interviews where you mostly talk shit and not anything technical, it doesn't mean you can't do UX, just that you need to be prepared

Yeah I guess I need someone to tell me that because I could feel that it was all just too good to be true

im an artist too and AI mogs me, you should do it anyway, which other options do you have?

Trust me mate I was in your shoes and I wish I listened to the advice given to me.

Source: worked on projects with a "design guy", his entire fucking personality was bullshitting people, ideally while on recreational drugs.

Yeah makes sense bud...but coding just wants me to pull my hair out ....I have taken three introductory coding classes uptill now and I literally can't understand half of the shit...I just mug up basic codes for assignments.

I just don't "get it" like some people in my class do....Maybe I am dumb....Also coding class is full of moggers who have been coding before they could walk and that just makes me feel that much more pathetic

Yeah I am going to like a liberal college where you have to declare your major by the year end(November).

According to my scores/subject combinations and classes taken these r my options which one do u think is the best-

Premed (Not interested at all)

Prelaw(Meh don't feel strongly to or against)

Design Course (I feel I might get jobs in Ui/ux//Video game design and I like it but Ai can fuck my shit up)

Computer science ( coding doesn't come naturally to me I would have to mug shit up....I just can't get it...I will have to force myself but I might end up with good grades at the end of it all)

Pure science like physics/chemistry (This would be my last option...jero jobs would have to get a PhD to get into the industry)

Electrical engineering (Have heard it has got really good job prospects straight out of college at about 90k/yr it's just that it's too high iq for me.... Like I was literally failing all of my introductory course lol...I just couldn't do it however much I studied it)

Interesting.....Did u also go to school for an art/design course?

Something similar.

Here’s the thing with hard courses or subjects, they are meant to be difficult.
And that a a good thing. That’s why they pay you once you graduate. You just gotta slug it out and pass , doesn’t need to be a perfect grade. Also, art related subjects aren’t skills that you need to go to school for. You just practice on your own to get good mostly. There is little ROI for these subjects and they prey on people like you and me for money.
