the natural instincts for preventing suicide are very strong. i've been through agonizing hell myself yet i have not planned on committing suicide, so i can't even imagine what he was going through that made him shoot himself.

This tbh. It's a quick way to go but also a pretty awful experience for whoever finds you, especially his own mother, not to mention the person who has to clean up that mess. I'd at least go outside to a secluded area first.
