After only ever using androids I'd definitely get an iPhone if I could especially since you can't even switch batteries anymore. Androids are slow as fuck, clunky as fuck, laggy as all shit, I'm not a programmer or Dev so their only benefits are useless.
iPhones are fast and easy to use, that's all I care about in a phone.
Higher end androids work fine, but medium to lower tier ones are garbage. They glitch up more, have shitty cameras, have shitty displays, and have a shitty unaesthetic interface in general. Fortunately mine (an LG Tribute) is one of the rare mid tiers that works fine, so I haven't needed to replace it yet. However, when I do, I will be switching to an iphone for the facetime and imessage.

Yeah it's always more expensive in the end. Also, I will never sign a service contract. They are overpriced and very difficult to get out of. The only reason to have one is if you need the family plan for your kids, or you like to replace your phone all the time. There's no reason to have one if you just need a solid phone to get the job done.
