Their "combat improved" variant (who knows what they will update them) with the exactly same armor layout from 1979.

It is a decent tank but my modern standards it's quite horrible and with Kashmir being a hilly area you'll run into the issue of what the Soviets had during the Soviet-Afghan war where the enemies are so high up their guns can't elevate, plus with the obvious issue of tanks being bad in hilly terrain anyway with a lack of roads and open fields.
It'll be interesting to see their newest Arjun in action which is basically a Leopard 2 with a hodgepodge of russian equipment strapped onto it along with a ton of ERA although it's in such small quanities I don't think it'll make much of a difference. The only thing is that India has a fuck ton of these tanks with about 2400 of them compared to pakistan fielding about 2500 tanks in total (most of them being chinese tanks along with their joint projects with china as well) so yeah.
We don't really know what'll happen yet since they didn't begin ground invasions and are mostly just using air assets and missiles to take out strategic targets, or in this case terrorists which is what the coalition did in again afghanistan during the invasion by bombing the shit out of them.
I don't care about both sides and won't even follow news on that. I know you don't care about my opinion but I already posted it.
