If feminists had their way, only tall and good looking men aka chads would get to reproduce. Many times throughout history, this did occur to an extent. But only during times of great peace and prosperity, such as now or the peak of Rome or Babylon. Yet if chads are reproducing while most other men are left longing for a woman and children, soon the other men will lose any incentive to contribute to the peace and prosperity of civilization. They will start to forgo their jobs, and then start to lash out in acts of violence. The authorities may paint these men as insane, but in reality they are only doing what makes sense - if they can't reproduce then their life is meaningless, so they will do anything to achieve it or get revenge for not being able to.
Thus the age of peace and prosperity transitions to the age of anarchy and destruction. Chad rulers and their beta minions must constantly protect their women and resources from wild bands of undesirable men. Selective pressure shifts from sexual selection for physical attractiveness of men towards natural selection for the combat ability/strategic thinking of men. It may even get to the point that women start to be subject to sexual selection by the men who capture them (some think this is how certain traits like blue eyes were selected for). Men who are able to protect women from bandits and provide in the midst of scarcity of necessities may also reproduce.
Eventually, either chads or women get sick of their safety and security always being at risk, and so create a system in which undesirable men are guaranteed a wife and children in exchange for being protectors and providers - hence why in virtually all stable civilizations men take on the role of breadwinners who are liable to be drafted. Thus more and more undesirable men opt to join society rather than rebel against it, so the age of anarchy and destruction transitions to the age of stability and rebuilding.
Then if the civilization becomes too prosperous to the point that chads can start to horde women without betas immediately rebelling, the cycle starts all over. Right now we are in an unprecedented age of peace and prosperity. Perhaps the biggest difference is that the rulers have much more powerful tools in place to prevent men from rebelling, in an organized manner at least. Namely high tech military and surveillance equipment and, even more powerful, endless copes to keep men sedated. So instead, undesirable men are opting out of work and only once in a blue moon does one lash out in a lone-wolf attack. This will probably mean that there will be a gradual decay until vital infrastructure no longer works, at which point the tools needed to keep men sedated will no longer work and then the age of anarchy will begin in earnest.
