The United States is, by and large, and inherently unfair and cruel society. This cruelty is exemplified by those who grew up on the promise of the American dream; that is, if you work hard and apply yourself, you can be successful, happy and reap the rewards of American life (home ownership, a family, etc.). Of course, these people grew up and realized that this wasn’t true. Hard work and integrity often get you nowhere in this country, with some of the most evil people you can imagine enjoying untold wealth and luxury that was ostensibly promised to them. They should be directing their anger towards these groups (ultra wealthy, politicians) but because they’re well beyond reach of any sort of retribution (not that this stops people from impotently lashing out on social media), anger is instead directed towards more readily available targets. These “targets” (for better or worse) have been slowly deemed as socially unacceptable to hate over time, until just a few remain: pedophiles, animal abusers and, of course, incels.
Incels are America’s punching bag, the collective boogeyman that people are freely allowed to hate on, abuse, and call for the death of. Lost your job? It’s okay, go on reddit and comment on how all incels are subhuman trash. Problems at home? Go post on X how “5’9 men and below should be tortured to death”.
My only hope is that as more and more normies get the bp, incel hate becomes socially unacceptable. Until then, however, the abuse will continue.
