i never played multiplayer games, even socialising there made me anxious, not even saying about games with vc i got called an kid even tho im in my 20's...

Can't relate, I only played competitive games my entire life.

Same, I usually only played them if I already knew the person I was playing with, the few times I didn't I just felt like an outcast.

i hate competitive games, im always scared of losing because im a fucking loser, i hated these games since little
I always wanted to play multiplayer games but I'm so bad at them, I just keep dying or losing that I have to capitulate, cope, and go back to singleplayer games
:cryfeels:

The worst is when you're playing multiplayer games and suddenly you come across couples playing together.

I don’t like talking to people, not even on the internet

I'm just trash at multiplayer games. Only one i've been mediocre at was league of legends and it didn't even have voice chat

Not really when you're playing for 6 or more hours a day, grinding a single lane for 45 minutes a match

I have severe social anxiety IRL to the point that crossing the road is hard for me because its too much of a social interaction, but online it all fades away and I often speak too much on voice chat and people get annoyed at me lol

Every time I tried playing LoL it just seemed too confusing and complicated so i stopped after 10 minutes

I haven't played an online game in a lot of years.

i can only play multiplayer and i never talk unless im calling someone trash.

I used to play multiplayer games online a lot back when I was younger. I'd say the golden age of online gaming was from the mid 2000s to the early 2010s. That's when connection speeds were good enough and player bases were large enough to find games at any hour in many games but at the same time, it wasn't a tryhard fest.

These days every single online game is mostly sweaty tryhards. Even in unranked games people are playing like it's the grand finals of a major tournament with $1,000,000 on the line. I don't feel like getting 1 shot across the map over and over in an FPS or getting juggled with a long ass combo that does 75 percent damage the moment I get hit in a fighting game. I also have a job and adult responsibilities so I don't have time to constantly keep up to date with the constantly evolving "meta".

I was never good at games online, but I was decent enough 15-20 years ago. Like overall maybe averageish. I've tried a few online games a few years back and I was legitimately bottom 1 percent. One fighting game I tried I legit lost every single game and one FPS I was the bottom player in almost every game, usually by a lot. Some people legit thought I was throwing games. Even in casual/unranked games and even at the lowest rank and with SBMM I just can't be remotely competitive. The skill floor is where the skill ceiling was back in the 2000s.

I understand part of it is age, at age 40 I simply don't have the reaction times to compete with guys half my age. But it's more than just that because I'm far from the only one to notice tryhards having ruined every single game. Simply put, the fun has been optimized out of online gaming. A lot of players only play single player now specifically because of this.

That said, vc was one of my favorite features in online games. These days it seems like most people don't use it though. One game I played for like 3 hours until I heard a single player talk on vc. Seems to be a sign of the times, everyone is so unsocial and hyper-introverted. One more reminder of what a dinosaur I am.
