i don't know shit about torrenting, i just downloaded qbittorrent and changed a few settings so i could search up torrents on it, works pretty effortlessly

I can give examples for Linux, but a lot of universities host HTTPS downloads and seeds Linux .ISO files. Would not surprise me if they also did that for various educational publication. The universities already have the servers to store data, why not distribute it as well.

Yeah Music was a big one, but i have been buying more and more physical releases on vinyl and tape, this might be due to me being a Elitist MetalHead snob. That and i just love collecting stuff

I do torrent anime to, but again lot of bad new shit made me less interest in actually torrenting. I mostly do Manga now anyway and manga on average is quite small in file size so there is several offerings of Manga-Reader software that download it on the fly. But there has been a few times where i had to torrent some un-translated Gundam material.

Might be, im not American so im not aware. Still set up a VPN and killswitch even if you live in a country with lax copyright laws. Also get a SeedBox if you are a in it big time, i had a SeedBox at one point.

yeah. it's pretty good. not hard, just know some basic shit (they give you the info anyway, they're not trying to fuck you). it's probably closed now though. it isn't harsh, you don't even need to seed (you can't even seed because there are people with 200x your internet taking all the leechers - and I have fiber)

there is a user cap of 20k. and there are invites. so who knows how often they open it up to interviews. you can always ask on their IRC about this stuff. I am one of the privileged few with access to the site I currently am a member of 4 exclusive private trackers but the interview shouldn't be an issue if you read the material for it or have any technical aptitude. don't need much bandwidth for music tbh. iirc they are pretty flexible with the interview stuff and it only takes a few min
