Being at home from uni with family for winter break is certainly a nice change from constantly seeing young and happy couples, but it is definitely not the cure either.
Yesterday my mom was talking to me about some recent drama in the life of one of her friends who has a very dysfunctional family. There was nothing about the story itself that bothered me, but it made me realize something: that at my point in life, why can't I be listening to my girlfriend telling me about the drama amongst her friends instead? I would much rather be listening to that instead of distant issues in which I have no real stake. The point I'm trying to make here is that even though nothing directly related to my loneliness was said, the whole experience still emphasized my state in a really pathetic way. For fuck's sake I'm old enough that my mom should not be the only woman in my life
