I never slept well even as a kid or in high school, but in adult life it has gotten so much worse. If I don't have an early commitment on the weekend I will wake up at noon or later almost without exception regardless of when I go to bed, such as happened yesterday. Then in spite of that, I came back to my room after dinner in the evening in a state of complete lethargy with a splitting headache. I had many things planned to work on but I was physically unable to, so I took pain medicine and fell asleep almost immediately. However, as always happens when I go to sleep early, I never sleep through the night. So now it is the middle of the night and I am wide awake. These types of things happen a lot, and the result is that I neither get work done nor a full night of sleep, thus failing on both fronts. At this point it's disingenuous to say I have a set time for sleeping, rather it's more or less whenever I can. Will probably have to take naps in the late afternoon tomorrow, thus starting the insomniac cycle all over again.
As I said elsewhere, it's known that having a female partner improves sleep quality and that those on the autism spectrum are pre-disposed towards sleep dysfunction. I curse every sleepless hour that could have been spent cuddling in the soft embrace of a loving hapa girlfriend.
