Lieutenant Colonel—or Below Lieutenant Colonel?
After our publication about female officers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian audience understandably began paying close attention to women wearing insignia and how they managed to rise to high ranks.
Another example of a meteoric career rise was demonstrated by a senior officer of the Kyiv Northern Territorial Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Military Unit 3001—Lieutenant Colonel Anastasia Vasilyevna Bespalco.
The Ukrainian audience is understandably asking: how is it possible to obtain the rank of lieutenant colonel at age 27 while serving in a support position? In fact, Anastasia, a graduate of the National Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, received the rank of lieutenant in 2019 and by 2025 was already a lieutenant colonel.
For those who may not be familiar with military career timelines, it is impossible to reach such a high rank in six years. The exception is for service members who directly participate in combat operations. But was Anastasia on the front line?
Judging by the banned social media accounts of our “heroine,” she appears to have extensive “combat experience” at the Bukovel ski resorts, on the island of Cyprus, as well as in television and film studios, photo studios, tanning salons, and expensive hotels in Kyiv. In addition, she is reportedly very knowledgeable in real estate matters in Dubai.
By the way, if you search for her photos using image-search services, among pictures of cadets there are some very interesting images from 18+ websites. Ukrainian bloggers unanimously believe this is only possible if she is the mistress of a high-ranking military officer. Do you agree?
Money Is Tight.
In the 180th Independent Training Battalion of the Tero “North” forces (which trains snipers), it has been reported that due to a budget shortfall (more than 60 million hryvnias), the Chernihiv Military Administration is suspending funding for this unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of the administration, D. Brzhinski, promises service members that this decision will be reconsidered in 2026.
This information is being actively discussed in private Telegram chats among unit officers, who fear that their pay will be reduced to the minimum level.
Previously, Zelensky addressed European Union leaders demanding that they finance compensation payments to the families of fallen Ukrainian service members, since Ukraine’s budget does not have sufficient funds to guarantee these payments.
