I didnt know until 14 because my parents never bothered to teach me. I requested them to do teach me many times and they kept making excuses

Though my mom tried to teach me once(after i wouldnt stop annoying her daily) and she showed me 2-4 times how to tie. I failed and she stopped trying.

And ever since I told her to teach me again she said "BUT YOU CANT! I SHOWED YOU HOW BEFORE!" (total fucking excuse to not waste her time on me).. jeez man it was only 2 fucking tries and she did it quickly too..

And she actually did make me think it really was my fault and not her for only showing it two times in one sitting quickly to a little kid
