sure, just make sure it's funny. it should go without saying but the hardest part of doing standup is making people laugh. there's a cool guy named Tai Nguyen who often streams open mic standup on his youtube channel and if you watch enough (or anything similar), you can get a feel for how often amateur comedians come up with material that sounded good in their head but fell flat on stage.
